Kitchener:
An Illustrated History
John English & Kenneth McLaughlin
Here is the attractive and definitive illustrated history
of Kitchener, Ontario, which until 1916 was Berlin,
“Canada’s German capital.” The book traces the city’s
development from the early Mennonite settlers and German
craftsmen to the modern period, when Kitchener rediscovered
the German roots it celebrates each year with
Oktoberfest. Walking tours, with maps, guide readers
around historic neighbourhoods.
